C-Bear Bottom Bracket Product Review

Being an avid MTB'r, and someone who takes pride in their bikes and equipment, I was looking for a more reliable and longer life replacement for my bikes bearings and bottom brackets. Training and racing MTB in all types of conditions, from mud, rain, rivers to dry, dust, and sandstone based environments seem to take a heavy toll on my bearings and bottom brackets in particular. Even with my bike being serviced and cleaned regularly I was using 2-3 bottom brackets a season, not to mention the creaking that becomes evident as they approach the end of their useful life.

Euro Adventure - Dolomiti Superbike

My first weekend away has been an eventful one. I have managed to MTB across three countries (Germany, Italy, and Austria) in 2 days which in itself has been pretty amazing.

Leaving Bavaria, Germany on Friday night had us arriving just in time for registration for the Dolomiti Superbike in the Trentino region of Italy. The panoramic vistas of the region have to been seen to be believed and we were to be blessed with perfect weather (28 degrees and sunny) for the race.

Euro Adventure

After a relatively quiet start to 2015, I find myself heading to Europe to compete in Bike Transalp (bike-transalp.de). Transalp is the Euro version of the Cape Epic, with riders challenged with 7 days MTB's across the European alps. Starting in Ruhpolding, Germany, through Austria, the Dolomites and finishing in the beautiful Riva del Garda.

2014 Hellfire Cup

The Hellfire Cup marked the end of season for myself and my SXC Racing team mate Mike. The Hellfire Cup had mixed reports from the previous year, but I could think of no better way then finishing off a season than doing a mtb roadtrip to unknown trails with a bunch of mates. And I would have to say, it more than lived up to expectations.

2014 Resurrection Mogo (Wayne)

Resurrection Mogo, was the inaugural event of what could be the long awaited replacement of the loved and despised Angry Doctor. After some large investment by the locals, and support from the local council, the single track in the Mogo area was revitalised to serve up a course that would test the legs and provide the satisfying smiles from the exhilarating descents. One thing is for sure, looking at the profile of this course - there was no easy miles in this one.

2014 STM Round 2 - Mogo

The weekend was shaped up to be one of this 'epic' weekends away. The forecast was for sunny conditions and not too cold, and everybody was anticipating riding those spectacular trails that Mogo has to offer.

Everybody loves a roadtrip and the Chocy Foot race gave the SXC Racing boys a great excuse to get away as a team and just ride. For this round we had our Masters team of 3, represented by Dave, Matt and Gary, and Graham and myself doing the 4hr solo.

2014 STM Round 1 - Kiwarrak

After a couple of months of so, of intense marathon racing, I was looking forward to the more social Chocolate Foot SingleTrackMind Series to come around.

It was a fantastic start to the series, with the Rnd 1 being hosted at the awesome trails at Kiwarrak State Forest and hosted by the Taree Tip Riders club. A spectacular day for racing, buffed trails, had teams and solo riders alike turning up in numbers for the first round with over 200 riders entered. The event centre was buzzing with plenty of smiling and familiar faces.

Otway Odyssey

The Otway Odyssey is one of those must do events. Like the Highland Fling it attracts the best riders from all over, but being in Victoria some of the best riders south of the boarder also make their way to this event.

It has been on my to do list for a while, and when it was incorporated into this years Maverick Series, it was worth the extra effort to enter and include the race on the calendar.

Cape Epic Stage 7 - The Final Day

69km
1800m climbing

SXC Racing finishing time 03:51:51

The last day of the Epic is one of many emotions. Relief and satisfaction that the last day is here and the finish in sight all the pain and physical exertion will be over. But also sadness and emptiness that a week of extreme physical/mental commitment and months/years of planning and training is over.
