After a great start to 2013 and a couple of months R&R its time to get excited about the next phase of racing.
Some old favourites , and some new events are on the calendar for the second half of 2013 and I am looking forward to getting amongst it.
Firstly the 3 Ring Circus, its an oldy but a goody. What better way to ease your way back into the season then with 54km of sweet Wingello singletrack. I will also be hitting the night performance this year, as well as the Sunday main event. Will be bringing the kids along too for some fun on the Saturday as well.
Next on the agenda is the Jetblack 12hr at Dargle. its the first time I have done this event, but by all reports its not one to miss. A great little track, and with at least a couple of teams entered for SXC Racing its sure to be alot of fun.
The Brownie Points Burner is next on the calendar. this a new race for 2013, but from the course description is sure to become a classic. With descriptions of 'epic singletrack' over '2700m of climbing' and descents that are sure to chew up all your xc suspension this is my type of trail. It sounds similar to the Atherton course earlier in the year, so am looking forward to great result at this one !
September takes us North of the boarder to the long established QLD Flight Centre Epic. Having ridden a 24hr a couple of years back some of the single track on this course is great. The milder climate up north will be a pleasant change to our southern winter and I hope to cross another classic off the MTB to do list with success to go with it.
The Scott 24, is always a favorite with the racers. SXC Racing will have two teams represented this year, looking to improve on the 3rd place in 2012. We have a great couple of teams competing and the banter has already started. Lets just hope some of the big talkers turn it on for race day ;-)
The second half of the year is long, and there are a few more events also on the calendar, but I will write more closer to the time !
So if you haven't already had your race fix for the year, get out there and get amongst it. There is plenty on offer.
